Soldiers' & Sailors' Monument

Restoration of this famous structure required superior planning and care, not least because we had to demolish the entire plaza around the Monument without disturbing the structure itself.

Surprises were many. For instance, after finding the limestone plaza steps were each uniquely cut to fit in a single location, we removed them one by one, surveying each point of support, so they could be stored and later reinstalled exactly as first laid.

Jungclaus undertook the replication of the historic stairway inside the Monument, purchasing the equipment for our own metal shop and doing the work ourselves.
