Because large Federal subsidies depended on meeting
the tight schedule, our work on this plant went on seven days a
week. Jungclaus designed and built every building in this picture
and delivered them on time and budget.
A surprise obstacle was finding that sliding doors
Dow had selected would have required a costly change of structural
steel. In response, Jungclaus’s Design-Build
department designed, engineered and, in our own shop, built
the mammoth sliding doors – some as large as 24 feet high
– needed to gain access to equipment. The savings were substantial,
demonstrating again Jungclaus’s ability to deliver lower
total project cost.
